2016 05 29 Trail fees proposed in Utah


The biggest new fee program in several years has been proposed for trail use in Utah’s Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons. Despite a growing body of case law saying that there must be free parking available for access to hiking trails for those who don’t use developed facilities, the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache NF wants to charge everyone a parking fee before they can take a hike.
